Our Materials:
Yellow yarn for the body and wings
Orange yarn for the beak and feet
Size 3 crochet hook
A pair of safety eyes
A stitch marker (to mark the beginning of rows)
Keychain ring
A yarn needle (for sewing the parts together)
Bead fiberfill (for stuffing)
We start by adding stitches into our magic ring based on the desired size, and continue increasing and decreasing until we achieve the body of the chick in the desired size and shape. To keep track of the number of stitches in each row and not lose our place, we use a different color thread as a stitch marker. Alternatively, we can use a safety pin for this purpose.
Once we reach the desired size, we align the eyes and attach them to the body, securing them in place with back locks to prevent them from coming loose.
As we approach the completion of the body, we start decreasing stitches gradually. To make the process easier, we stuff the chick with bead fiberfill without narrowing the opening too much, helping the chick take shape.
As we continue decreasing, the chick’s body is closed, and the largest part is completed.
Next, we make the two wings, starting with a magic ring and crocheting to the desired size, and then sew them onto the sides of the body. This completes the crochet work with yellow yarn.
With the orange yarn, we crochet the chick's beak and feet, and then assemble all the parts. Once the chick’s features are finished, we add small head feathers for decoration.
Finally, we attach the keychain ring, and voilà! Your chick friend is now with you, wherever you wish!
